Happy New Year!

Posted on January 9, 2011
Hope everyone's 2011 is off to a great start! With the New Year comes a number of exciting music opportunities.  On Jan 19, I'll be singing for the first time at the New Deal Cafe in Greenbelt.  Also, I'm honored to be performing with interPLAY a musical ensemble for disabled adults along with an amazing band including Leo Lucini and Amy Bormet later this month at the Strathmore.  I'm also returning to SOVA on Feb 9.
And most exciting of all, next month I'm finally going to Brazil! I'll be taking a Brazilian jazz workshop with esteemed bass player Nilson Matta of Trio da Paz.  I'll be in Paraty and Rio so any tips would be appreciated.
And thanks to all of you who have supported my musical journey here in DC.  I'm immensely grateful for the welcome I've received.

Lynford Morton, a tremendously talented photography instructor, took beautiful photos at the lastSOVA gig for his photo instruction blog FocalPointDC.

Moved to DC

Posted on November 15, 2009
Hi everyone, As many of you know, I moved to DC this past summer. Although I miss the Bay Area and all my friends and musicians I worked with, I'm happy to find a thriving music scene here. The exciting news is I've met some great DC Brazilian jazz musicians including Wayne Wilentz and his trio. In the meantime, getting my feet wet here, meeting musicians, hoping to line up some gigs. I'll keep you all informed. Beijos, Emy
